Miami, Florida, is one of America's most multi-cultural cities and as a result it has a rich mix of music styles. One of the city's most famous exports is multi-Grammy award winner Gloria Estafan who began her career with her band, Miami Sound Machine, in the city. Miami is also famous for its disco sound thanks to Miami based group, KC and the Sunshine Band.
In more recent years, the hip-hop scene has been big, fuelled by Will Smith's song "Miami". The city's musical culture is evident in its many clubs and concert venues, like the James L Knight Center, Bayfront Park and Bicentennial Park, which attract all the latest acts, and The Ziff Opera House Carnival Center For The Performing Arts' various theaters show all the top Broadway productions, comedy shows, plays, ballets and musicals.
Miami is also a hotbed for American sports, with teams on all the major leagues, and both its baseball and football sides calling Dolphin Stadium home. The Miami Dolphins were Super Bowl Champions two years running – in 1972 and 1983. The basketball team, Miami Heat play at the American Airlines Arena, and won the NBA Championship in 2006. The city also supports a national hockey league side- the Florida Panthers, and its Major League Baseball team, the Florida Marlins, took the World Series in 1997 and 2003, when they beat the Yankees for the coveted prize.
