San Antonio has a vibrant art community that reflects the rich history and culture of the area, and as a result has some of the best theatres and live music arena in Texas.
These include the Alameda Theater – one of the biggest movie houses in the US – that now shows Broadway productions, theater, opera and dance as well as concerts and films, The Lila Cockrell Theatre, Majestic Theatre and the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre, known for its orchestral performances and touring plays.
San Antonio's only major league sports team is the San Antonio Spurs, who play in the NBA. The Spurs have won the NBA Championships three times – in 1999, 2003 and 2005 – and most San Antonians are big basketball fans, following the Spurs and support them when they play at home ay hr AT&T Center. San Antonio also has some minor league sides – the Rampage, of the American Hockey League, and the women's basketball side, the San Antonio Silver Stars.
