Tampa, Florida is more often than not referred to as Tampa Bay, and is a hugely popular tourist destination. Downtown is undergoing a huge transformation because Tampa is due to host the 2009 Super Bowl.
Due to the city being home to three major league sides, sport is very popular in Tampa. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the NFL side, and they play at the Raymond James Stadium and are the Super Bowl XXXVII holders. The NHL side, Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup in the 2003/04 season and play at the St Pete Times Forum, where as the Major League baseball side, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays don't actually play in the city, but are in Tropicana Field, in nearby St Petersburg. The Devil Rays have only been in the MLB since 1998 when they were added as an expansion team.
Tampa also has a rich music scene, and attracts some of the biggest names in the business to its concert venues, which include the Ford Amphitheatre and gets the latest Broadway and off Broadway shows and top comedy acts at its theatres in the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.
